Parenting and Discipline - Where to Draw the Line explores Section 43 of the Criminal Code of Canada and how it relates to traditional Aboriginal society’s view of discipline. Section 43 is known as the “spanking law” which allows corporal punishment under certain restrictions. The DVD also explains how the gentle methods of traditional Aboriginal childrearing were interrupted due to harsh corporal punishment in residential schools.
